About this role
Einleitung
We are looking for new colleagues! Migrando is a legal tech company from Cottbus. We have made it our mission to make the complicated and lengthy process of naturalization more efficient and customer-friendly. With our expertise in immigration law, our legal competence and a strong team of numerous employees, we successfully guide thousands of clients on their path to German citizenship. Best take a look at migrando(.)de/karriere, our careers page, right away. Because we can write whatever we want here, in the end it remains a boring introduction.
We don't care what certificates you have or where you studied. What interests us: What can you really do? Someone who has worked in practice for years and gathered hands-on experience brings more to the table than any course completion. If you are curious, don't shy away from responsibility and are eager to continuously develop yourself, we want to get to know you.
Why us?
At us, you carry real responsibility for the technical foundation that everything is built on. No isolated ticket processing, you actively shape from the start how our systems function and communicate.
- Free choice of tools
Docker Desktop, Supabase, N8N, HubSpot API, WordPress, you work with the stack that gets the job done. And if you know a better tool, we want to hear about it. - No fear of AI
We encourage our employees in many areas to use AI to make work faster and easier. For this purpose, we provide you with Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini in their respective Pro versions. - High-end hardware of your choice
Whether MacBook Pro or Windows tower. You get the machine you perform best on, including 4K monitors. - Real influence on the architecture
You have a say in which technologies we use, how interfaces are structured and what our technical ecosystem looks like in the long run. - Small teams instead of open-plan offices
You work in manageable teams where people know each other and conversations happen quickly. - Music while you work
We won't frown if you put on headphones. If it helps you (and doesn't bother anyone else), you're welcome to pump heavy metal through a sound system at your desk. - Modern old-building office in the heart of Cottbus
High ceilings, plenty of natural light, plants in the rooms and a courtyard for a break in between. You can get a glimpse of our premises on our website. - Good transport links & parking nearby
You can easily get to the office by bus or train, by bike or on foot. For those commuting from outside, there are employee parking spaces right nearby. - Your own personal workspace
You won't be wandering through the office every day with your laptop looking for a free desk. You have your own spot with your mug, your plants, your notes and everything you need to feel truly comfortable. - Ergonomic workspace with modern equipment
A back-friendly chair, height-adjustable desk, two large monitors, a high-quality headset, a powerful laptop and a quiet environment. - Fast procurement of hardware, software & tools
If you need something, you get it. No weeks-long requests or long waits. Just let us know and we'll take care of it. - Remote work option
In principle, we work in the office because in-person collaboration and exchange are important to us. At the same time, working from home is possible at any time, even spontaneously and without lengthy coordination. - Flextime without core hours
We have no prescribed time windows during which you are required to be present. - Flexible part-time models
Whether a 4-day week, 30 hours or an individual arrangement. Your job should fit your life, not the other way around. - Taking spontaneous time off
Sometimes you just need a break. We plan our teams in such a way that spontaneous days off are possible too, without any stress or guilt. - Family-friendly culture
Sick children, a parents' evening or a last-minute doctor's appointment, we know that these situations are part of everyday life. Family and health always come first with us. - Short lines of communication
You don't have to work your way through hierarchies or write lengthy emails to be heard. You can speak directly with colleagues, team leads or management at any time. Decisions are made quickly, communication is direct and nobody sits in an ivory tower. - Shape things instead of just ticking boxes
We are looking for colleagues who think along with us. If you have an idea for how a process could run better, a tool that would make sense or a workflow that could function more smartly, you will be heard. - Meaningful work
Your work has a direct influence on people's lives. You support them in arriving in Germany, finding security and starting a new chapter. This is not dry office work, it is work with real meaning and tangible impact. - Varied tasks
Every person brings a different story, every case is individual. You don't mechanically process files, you accompany diverse mandates, make decisions, think things through and are constantly learning. - You are never alone
Your team will show you the necessary workflows and is always there to support you with tricky cases or questions. You are never left to fend for yourself or made to prove your abilities. - Time to learn
Testing new tools, improving workflows or deepening expertise, all of this is a firm part of your working hours, not your after-work time. - In-house Feel-Good offerings
Our Feel-Good-Manager regularly provides small moments of relaxation, from neck and shoulder massages to short relaxation and beauty sessions to moments to simply breathe. - Coffee, drinks & snacks
You're always taken care of in the office: good coffee, cold drinks and small snacks are part of everyday life. And when there's something to celebrate, a success, a birthday or simply a good day, there's also cake or pizza. - Regular team events
We love to celebrate. Summer party by the lake, cozy Christmas party, Halloween bash, shared lunches or after-work dinners with the department. Our events help us grow together as a team and set aside the working day for a while. But don't worry: attendance is not mandatory and leaving early is no problem either. - Humanity in everyday life
With all our professionalism, we never lose our lightness. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves too much. - Diverse team
People from different countries, cultures and walks of life work together here. You can already get a small glimpse of your potential colleagues on our website under "Team". - No dress code, you stay you
What matters to us is not how you look, but how you work. - In-house gym
Our own gym is available to you right in the building, free of charge, well equipped and accessible at any time. - Holiday entitlement
We are completely transparent: everyone receives 25 days of holiday (based on a 40-hour week).
Your mission
As a Backend Developer at Migrando you build the technical foundations on which our entire ecosystem runs. Our platform consists of several portals, tools and automations that are used by thousands of users every day. You work closely with frontend, design, SEO and automation and ensure that our systems run stably, securely and performantly. Whether clean logic in WordPress, work with the HubSpot API, automations in N8N or performant databases in Supabase, you develop solutions that function and can scale in the long run.
- API integration & interface building
You connect external services such as CRM systems, payment providers or marketing tools, build REST endpoints and ensure secure, reliable data exchange. - Development of new features
You build server-side logic and new functions, from small plugins to complex modules for our WordPress instances. - Collaboration with frontend
You coordinate closely with the frontend team, deliver the appropriate endpoints, support with deployment and think through technical improvements together. - WordPress development
You program custom functions for product logic, checkout, order processes or customer areas. - Database management
You maintain and optimize databases, structure tables sensibly, improve queries and keep our data structures clean and performant. Whether our website database or a Supabase database with internal data. - Performance optimization
You work on better load times (cloud or local network), query optimizations, caching strategies and an overall faster server architecture. - Automation & background processes
You develop cron jobs, automated data processing, N8N or HubSpot workflows and background processes that make our daily operations more efficient. - Further development of internal tools
You work on small services, modules and helper processes that move our platform and team forward technically. - HubSpot development
You engage with developer tools in HubSpot and take care of a smooth connection into our existing ecosystem. - Evaluation of new technologies
You are eager to try out new tools, frameworks or modern WordPress architectures (e.g. headless approaches) and bring them into the team.
Your profile
Degrees and certificates don't matter to us, what matters is that you know your craft and have gathered practical experience in backend development. You know how to build interfaces, optimize databases and write code that not only performs, but is also understood by others. If you don't shy away from responsibility and are eager to actively help shape a technical ecosystem, we look forward to getting to know you.
- Solid experience in backend development
You feel at home in the backend and enjoy developing functions that run reliably, are cleanly structured and can be easily extended. - PHP skills
You are familiar with modern PHP development, feel comfortable with OOP and basic patterns and know where things stand today. - Working with WordPress
You know how themes and plugins are structured, perhaps even work with hooks and feel at home in the WP ecosystem. - Confident handling of databases
You can plan and use database structures sensibly. You know best practices and feel comfortable working with databases. - Clean, well-structured code
Readability and architecture are not nice-to-haves for you. You write code that others can still understand in six months, including yourself. - Experience in the API area
You have already worked with REST or comparable interfaces and know how to integrate and authorize services and possibly create your own endpoints. - Security focus
You know typical vulnerabilities and know how to protect against them (in our case: website vulnerabilities, our internal tools are only available within the network). - Data protection understanding
We work with sensitive customer data. We expect an awareness of secure storage and processing of this data. - Openness to new things
You are eager to familiarize yourself with new tools or frameworks and to develop yourself professionally. - Sense of responsibility
You also think about scalability, data integrity and long-term maintainability in your work. "Quick and dirty" can occasionally be acceptable, but that needs to be agreed upon. - Easy communication
You are communicative and open. We don't really want to write generic things here, but this point is important. Good collaboration is just as important to us as pure know-how. A colleague who is pleasant and smooth to work with can be more valuable in everyday life than someone with more experience but sluggish communication. - English or German
You speak English, German or ideally both (around B2 level). Don't worry, we don't require proof of language proficiency.
